Another Iceland road trip (day 1)

It’s been 2 years since we went anywhere on holiday. So we decided our trip to Iceland Airwaves would be longer than usual to allow plenty of road tripping. Airwaves then got cancelled, but all was not lost as some of our favourite bands announced gigs which we bought tickets for, then Airwaves got partially reinstated. So we started our trip with 1 day in Reykjavík for HATARI at Húrra. It could be counted as our first proper gig (aka standing gig, no covid checks etc), since Feb 2020 and was much needed.

HATARI at Húrra

I’d watched the film A Song Called Hate on the flight over, so had a much greater understanding of some of the lyrics (we’ve seen the band multiple times since 2017 but early on we couldn’t find translations). It was the sort of high energy show we needed to be woken up after travelling fir most of the day. With several guest appearances for various songs and a fun loving crowd (when the interval music included Britney Spears there was an audience rendition to accompany it) the night for us was a solid 10. I also had my first Jólabjór of the season!
