Book review: Utterly British Maps

By Helen McKenzie

Front cover

My second NetGalley book, digital copy : apparently by National Trust books, I didn’t know they published books!

Map of Cornish Pasty hotspots

Fantastically funny and informative, and who doesn’t love a good map? From funny place names to which town has the most roundabouts, and several food related maps – it could’ve been a 5⭐️ review but sadly I disagree with the map which states that bap is the most commonly used name for a bread roll in the north west (I lived there for many years and was corrected on my first day in Manchester by a local, it’s – barm cake!) although to be fair it was very brave of the author to tackle such a contentious (but yes, utterly British) issue for the book! 4.5 ⭐️
