Oxfordshire Artweeks

And a bit of shameless self promotion.

In case you hadn’t realised, May is the month the artists in county of Oxfordshire open up their homes and studios to the public, hundreds of art exhibitions take place during a little over 3 weeks (May 4-27th this year), with each week dedicated to an area of the county. As usual I will be exhibiting during city week which officially starts on the 11th May but my long standing exhibition with Oxford Photographers (now in our 9th year!) was installed on the first and very dreary bank holiday of the month and runs the course.

I’m actually taking part in 3 exhibitions this year, all within the city region so here goes: – Photography at Site 221 (Jericho) with Oxford Photographers at the Maths Institute, there are 12 of us exhibiting this year mostly large scale prints. Mine focus on the Aurora Borealis from both here in Oxford and Iceland but other work encompasses architecture, nature, travel and abstract subjects.
Next up is site 245 (City) at the Bodleian Bibliographical Press a letterpress studio, in you’ve guessed it – the Bodleian. There might be some demonstrations on too, but its only opening the weekend of the 11–12th May. The prints that will be on show are letterpress prints using a mix of wood and lead type that combine imagery and text (via a risograph) taken from poetry developed in a series of workshops at the Old Fire Stationat the end of 2023.

Last but not least printmaking at site 310 (East) with Oxford Printmakers Co-operative, where I’ll be showing some lino prints but there will be a huge array of different techniques on display, and they have a great range of artist cards along side prints for sale (I’ll also be invigilating this Saturday if you fancy popping in and saying hi!)
